An article published on Gigwise.com talks about Miley Cyrus behavior that by pulling out a joint on stage. This young lady is going to completely crash and burn. If someone does not get a hold of her and control her behavior, she will be either a Lindsey Lohan or worse dead!

Miley Cyrus has been slammed by anti-drugs campaigners after smoking a spliff on stage at the EMAs on Sunday (10 November, 2013).

Cyrus outraged audiences by taking a joint out of her bag when she walked out to collect the Best Video award for the Wrecking Ball.

"I couldnt fit the award in my purse but I did find this," she said reaching into her bag and removing a joint that she proceeded to smoke on stage. The show also saw her dress up in spandex and twerk with a dwarf during her anthem to teenage rebellion We Cant Stop.

Talking to the Evening Standard, David Raynes for the National Drug Prevention Alliance deemed the act completely "irresponsible." Marijuana isnt legal in the Netherlands, but the lax approach to drug laws mean that people wont be arrested for the possesion of small amounts, despite this Raynes highlighted the effect that the stunt could have on Mileys audience.

"The people she is targeting with her performance are much more vulnerable to the effects of marijuana," he tells the newspaper. "We know from research that cannabis use has more of an effect on the younger brain than the brain of a more mature person. By doing this on stage she is making it a more acceptable lifestyle choice."

Meanwhile in the rest of the world of weed news, Lady Gaga recently opened up, stating that she was completely addicted to the drug, smoking up to 20 joints in a day while recording her new album, ARTPOP. Last year she shocked her audience by lighting a spliff up during a performance in Amsterdam.

                The journey from free life into prison is one of great culture shock; the transition back out is equally disorienting.  To many ex-convicts, it is too much to handle, particularly when the reality sets in of just how difficult it can be to get a foothold back in society. 

                Hurdles abound:

                                (1) one cannot work without a Social Security card that takes two weeks to obtain. 

                                (2) From there, one must get either a State ID or Driver’s License in order to cash checks or open a bank account; at least two more weeks. 

                                (3) Then, to sign up for government assistance and medical care, you have to get a copy of your birth certificate; minimum of  $17.75 and at least two more weeks.

So that’s six weeks a person would have to somehow support themselves on the $100 that DOC garnishes from your account while you are inside. 

Not an easy proposition…

Thankfully my own experience has been far wide of the norm.  My family has been exceptionally supportive, and I was hired into a volunteer position three days after release.  So I personally am doing fine, but for the average fellow who has to stay in a halfway house and work under the table, the frustration could (and has) easily drive them back into crime just to get some money for daily needs. 

So as to why I am currently scrubbing toilets at the local church - it’s my job, and I enjoy it. J

Tommy Chandler went to the Denver Detention Center two times this year for 54 and 55 days. One was a theft charge and the other was urinating in public. He is 44 years old and 93 days sober after using meth and marijuana for 33 years. He wrote this in jail:

The bricks have no warmth here, nothing but the cold reality surrounding you. Caged in like the mighty lion that got caught, his instincts slowly fading away. Your aching back is begging for freedom again. Until then nothing but a cold metal bunk bed with a two-inch-thick broken-down mat is all you get. The loud snoring in both cells on each side has you sandwiched into never-ending sleepless nights.

Once a week, most look forward to commissary day. Some will be smiling like kids on Christmas, others just sitting enviously like kids in the corner that Santa forgot, wishing they would have heard their name called to go get their bag of goodies.

Loneliness constantly creeps into your mind and heart. But you’re never alone as you’re constantly surrounded by other inmates and guards. Most of whom couldn’t care whether you existed or not.

Few inmates can remember phone numbers of contacts in their cell phones. Those that can need their friends or family to prepay phone time to accept collect calls. Unfortunately, most have burned everyone outside due to drugs, bad behavior and bad decisions. So phone calls and visits are rare.

The food is repetitive and lacks in so many ways they just call it chow. It is served three times a day. There is a twelve-hour span between your last meal that day and breakfast the next morning. So your options are to starve, save and hide food for a snack later or eat commissary. Some pitch in together and combine items to make spreads, giving them something that tastes good and fills stomachs until the next meal. The hungry ones sit watching and wishing they could join in, almost like that little fat kid who didn’t get picked to play ball.

Once a week, you get a clean uniform and linens. First you turn in your dirty ones. Then before being given clean ones, everyone is put out into the courtyard. Then the guards search the entire place. They rummage through everyone’s belongings, making a mess to clean up, confiscating items not issued to you or bought through commissary, removing anything extra that might provide comfort, individuality, or a sense of home until your release.

This wasn’t written to complain or condemn the system, jails or prisons in any way. Reform and retraining grown adults is not easy to do. I commend all you officers trying to do your best to enforce our laws and protect our rights. What I am saying is if you have ever done drugs, domestic violence, been abusive, or if you just plain keep making bad choices and bad decisions, then please change or this will be your life as an inmate.

SAN FRANCISCO — A federal appeals court on Tuesday struck a blow against widely used gang injunctions, ruling that a sweeping Orange County ban cannot be applied to dozens of people because it gave them no way to challenge claims that they were gang members.

The 9th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals said the 2009 injunction granted by a state court against alleged

members or associates of the Orange Varrio Cypress gang was extraordinarily broad, impinging on constitutional liberties and everyday activities, and that there was a "considerable" risk of error in identifying alleged gang members.

"The OCDA and other law enforcement agencies can no longer go behind closed doors and unilaterally decide who is a gang member," said Belinda Escobosa Helzer, director of the Orange County office of the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California, which filed a lawsuit over the injunction.

A call to the county district attorneys office was not immediately returned after hours Tuesday.

Gang injunctions have been used in California since at least 1987 to curb street gang activities by obtaining public nuisance injunctions that prevent reputed gang members from various activities in their gang territories, ranging from drug-dealing and shootings to simply gathering together.

The use of gang injunctions has proliferated across the nation and even overseas.

Advocates argue that the injunctions have reduced gang crime while opponents say they cast too wide a net and unfairly brand young men as gang members without due process.

As with many other orders, the Orange County injunction barred suspected members of the gang from associating in public, wearing gang clothing or being out late at night within an area of Orange that was deemed the gangs territory.

In its ruling, the appellate court said the injunction "profoundly implicates" and interferes with liberties such as the rights of free movement, association and speech. It noted that the injunction was permanent and its prohibitions had no exceptions for those named to attend religious services, take part in political demonstrations, or even associate with some family members at parks, libraries or churches within certain areas.

It cited the lower courts finding that in one case, the mother of two brothers had to decide whether they could visit their grandfather in a hospital after he had a stroke.

The appellate courts ruling, however, honed in on a unique issue in the Orange County case: Prosecutors dismissed 62 people from the injunction after they challenged their inclusion in the temporary injunction.
However, those people were nonetheless named in the permanent injunction.

The appellate court agreed with a portion of the lower court ruling that barred enforcement of the injunction against the people who had been dismissed from the temporary injunction.


"Todays ruling recognizes that determining who is and isnt a gang member isnt always easy, and police and prosecutors can get it wrong. Thats why the Constitution doesnt leave it up to the whim of the government, but gives someone accused of being a gang member the right to be heard before his or her basic freedoms are restricted," said Joseph Ybarra, partner with the law firm of Munger Tolles & Olson LLP, which took part in the suit.

Most teenagers say they’re confident about what they post on social media. About 79 percent of those polled in an online study released Thursday by Ask.fm and YouGov reported that they “rarely say things online they regret." But teens are also embracing anonymity.

That’s an option on Ask.fm — a question-and-answer site owned by Interactive Active Corporation/IAC, and operated by Ask.com. The study has an inherent bias in that it was conducted online, but it highlights teens and their parents’ perspectives on vanity, anonymity and bullying on social networks.

“Teens know what to use and know what their choices are,” Catherine Teitelbaum, chief trust and safety officer at Ask.fm, told International Business Times. “They understand the digital footprint, that what they write will stay there, and they see ways they can express themselves that play out in different ways.”

The survey, which polled 2,905 respondents (kids aged 13 to 18 and their parents) in the United States, United Kingdom and Ireland, found that 40 percent of teens found anonymity allowed them to talk about difficult topics. Only 4 percent said they would have talked about the same topics if their identity were tied to it.

Ask.fm allows for anonymity and boasts 150 million unique visitors as of March. But there have been other sites that have not fared so well. Anonymous social network Secret, for example, shut down in April. Secret’s founder, David Byttow, wrote in a Medium post, “I believe in honest, open communication and creative expression, and anonymity is a great device to achieve it. But it’s also the ultimate double-edge sword, which must be wielded with great respect and care.”


The reasons for wanting anonymity vary. Fifteen percent of teens reported certain topics are not ones they feel comfortable discussing publicly and 15 percent reported not wanting to “look dumb,” the survey said. About 12 percent of those surveyed revealed that they use anonymity to learn what someone thinks of them.

But for sites to pass muster with consumers and the media, anonymity comes hand-and-hand with moderation tools. Yik Yak, an anonymous chatroom app popular on high school and college campuses, has been banned at some schools and has faced scrutiny for hosting racist and demeaning comments. Yet the app has moderation tools where users can report and block others. Handling anonymity with care must be a top concern for websites, Ask.fm’s Teitelbaum said.

“We believe that baking safety into our anonymous process is necessary," she said. "We have a robust moderation system. For businesses, that functionality has to be backed in there upfront."
Moderation tools are what can empower teens to take control of a social network and their own use of it. About 52 percent of teens surveyed reported that they had blocked another person on a social network. And only 5 percent of teens said social networks should do nothing to address cyberbullying if it occurs. More teens reported experiencing bullying in person (38 percent) versus online (10 percent), the survey notes.

“Theres a positive and usable role to anonymous features,” Teitelbaum said. “We call it anonymity with responsibility.”

Veterans Day is a day of remembrance, honor and respect for men and women who served our country. While each of us may respect veterans in our own way, we would love to know what this day means to you.

World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” - officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles outside the town of Versailles, France. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.”

In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…"

The original concept for the celebration was for a day observed with parades and public meetings and a brief suspension of business beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The United States Congress officially recognized the end of World War I when it passed a concurrent resolution on June 4, 1926, with these words:

Whereas the 11th of November 1918, marked the cessation of the most destructive, sanguinary, and far reaching war in human annals and the resumption by the people of the United States of peaceful relations with other nations, which we hope may never again be severed, and

Whereas it is fitting that the recurring anniversary of this date should be commemorated with thanksgiving and prayer and exercises designed to perpetuate peace through good will and mutual understanding between nations; and

Whereas the legislatures of twenty-seven of our States have already declared November 11 to be a legal holiday: Therefore be it Resolved by the Senate (the House of Representatives concurring), that the President of the United States is requested to issue a proclamation calling upon the officials to display the flag of the United States on all Government buildings on November 11 and inviting the people of the United States to observe the day in schools and churches, or other suitable places, with appropriate ceremonies of friendly relations with all other peoples.

An Act (52 Stat. 351; 5 U. S. Code, Sec. 87a) approved May 13, 1938, made the 11th of November in each year a legal holiday—a day to be dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be thereafter celebrated and known as "Armistice Day." Armistice Day was primarily a day set aside to honor veterans of World War I, but in 1954, after World War II had required the greatest mobilization of soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen in the Nation’s history; after American forces had fought aggression in Korea, the 83rd Congress, at the urging of the veterans service organizations, amended the Act of 1938 by striking out the word "Armistice" and inserting in its place the word "Veterans." With the approval of this legislation (Public Law 380) on June 1, 1954, November 11th became a day to honor American veterans of all wars.

Later that same year, on October 8th, President Dwight D. Eisenhower issued the first "Veterans Day Proclamation" which stated: "In order to insure proper and widespread observance of this anniversary, all veterans, all veterans organizations, and the entire citizenry will wish to join hands in the common purpose. Toward this end, I am designating the Administrator of Veterans Affairs as Chairman of a Veterans Day National Committee, which shall include such other persons as the Chairman may select, and which will coordinate at the national level necessary planning for the observance. I am also requesting the heads of all departments and agencies of the Executive branch of the Government to assist the National Committee in every way possible."

On that same day, President Eisenhower sent a letter to the Honorable Harvey V. Higley, Administrator of Veterans Affairs (VA), designating him as Chairman of the Veterans Day National Committee.

In 1958, the White House advised VAs General Counsel that the 1954 designation of the VA Administrator as Chairman of the Veterans Day National Committee applied to all subsequent VA Administrators. Since March 1989 when VA was elevated to a cabinet level department, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs has served as the committees chairman.

The Uniform Holiday Bill (Public Law 90-363 (82 Stat. 250)) was signed on June 28, 1968, and was intended to ensure three-day weekends for Federal employees by celebrating four national holidays on Mondays: Washingtons Birthday, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Columbus Day. It was thought that these extended weekends would encourage travel, recreational and cultural activities and stimulate greater industrial and commercial production. Many states did not agree with this decision and continued to celebrate the holidays on their original dates.

The first Veterans Day under the new law was observed with much confusion on October 25, 1971. It was quite apparent that the commemoration of this day was a matter of historic and patriotic significance to a great number of our citizens, and so on September 20th, 1975, President Gerald R. Ford signed Public Law 94-97 (89 Stat. 479), which returned the annual observance of Veterans Day to its original date of November 11, beginning in 1978. This action supported the desires of the overwhelming majority of state legislatures, all major veterans service organizations and the American people.

Veterans Day continues to be observed on November 11, regardless of what day of the week on which it falls. The restoration of the observance of Veterans Day to November 11 not only preserves the historical significance of the date, but helps focus attention on the important purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor Americas veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

In 1987, I was 29, when I was arrested for conspiracy, manufacturing a controlled substance and money laundering. I was looking at 75 years, so my highly paid attorney and I pleaded to simple possession. At that time, Arizona had mandatory minimum sentences, which, in my case, was 4 years.

After spending the usual time in the Maricopa County 4th Avenue jail, I was transferred to the Arizona Department of Corrections Alhambra Unit for classification. I found out I was going to Cimarron Unit, Tucson prison to do my time. Cimarron was a maximum security prison and the hub for the AB aka the Aryan Brotherhood. I thought I wouldnt  leave there alive and could not understand why I was sent there and not to a medium or minimum security prison. 

Being led to my cell, I was thinking how tough the next 4 years was going to be. My next shock was meeting my cellmate who told me he was doing 25 to life for murder and if he ever got paroled, California wanted him to do the same for murdering an elderly couple and stealing their Winnebago. I was beside myself, asking more questions in my head but getting few answers.

For the next 9 months, I was involved in a fight at least once a week, not for starting trouble, but for keeping a pack of cigarettes, a pair of Reebok tennis shoes, my TV, weekly store, you name it. I hated having to fight to keep my stuff, and to this day, I can honestly say that I kept everything, with the exception of a few sore ribs, jaw, etc. 

During my stay, I had to have surgery on my right wrist. When it was done, I went back to my cell the same day with my hand wrapped the size of a basket ball. Before leaving the hospital, the doctor gave me a shot of Demerol, which I needed badly. I asked him about the pain once the shot wore off and he said he was sending a prescription for some powerful pain killer with the guards. I felt relieved knowing that, however, when I asked for the pain relief, I was told I was in prison, not the streets and to stop whining. It took four days before I could tolerate the pain. 

Approximately six weeks later, I had to go to the Medical Unit to get the two 3 x 7 inch pins out of my wrist. There was only a sadistic PA there. I asked if he was going to numb my wrist before pulling the pins out. He laughed, told me to quit acting like a baby and take it like a man. He turned to me and as he did I noticed he had a pair of needle nose pliers in his hand. I told him he wasnt using those on me and his reply was, either get this done or hed call a guard and have me written up for disciplinary action. It took four tries and many extremely painful slips before he finally got them out. He sent me back to my cell without even an aspirin. 

I saw two guys die with shanks still in them. One had two in his neck, presumably  because he owed a skinhead $4 for a pack of smokes. The other man  was killed, also by shanks in his neck, right outside of the chow hall. Up until two hours before his death, hed been in protective custody for the past 13 years  because hed  stood by a black mans side in a fight at Florence prison aka The Walls, where the condemned go to die. Anyway, this guy finally decided 13 years was long enough, so hed asked to be released to the general population in another prison. The AB had put a $4000 hit on him 13 years prior. The prison admin agreed, but sent him to Cimarron, and he had no idea till he got there and pleaded with the colonel to send him elsewhere, but the warden had gone home, so his request was denied. An hour later, he was laying on the concrete in front of the chow hall, dead with four shanks in his neck. His body was there for three hours till they called an ambulance to come get him.

Another inmate who was a gynecologist  and had 17 years for assault on his patients was working out at recreation when someone chocked him to death with a bar bell.

In prison, they feed on violence, with a whole world of prison rules and how they live. After about 9 months, the AB finally left me alone.

These are only a few of the activities that went on while I was there. After about a year, I was transferred to a minimum security complex where the same went on but not as frequently.

I was finally free after spending 2 1/2 years in the worst hell I could ever imagine. I never did find out why I was sent to a maximum security prison but I survived, if not a stronger and tougher man, then at least a wiser one.

They brought a guy in from lockdown, who thought he was the stuff. He zeroed in on a young kid. He actually walked up to the kid, gave him some food, and started to horseplay with him.

The kid was hungry because they don’t feed us worth a damn in here. The kid was thinking, Wow! This guy is cool.

I was hoping the kid wouldn’t eat any of the stuff, but he did. He went into cell 2 out of view, and the guy was on him. It was so damn sick.

The guy hadn’t thought about God. I walked over there with no fear. Several other sickos were telling me to mind my own business. They were about to jump me. Man, it got real and I mean real. I realised that I was being set up, and I started to pray.

The guards came in to do a security walk. They saw the kid all red-faced and bleeding. They hauled the kid and the guy out of here real fast. They locked us down to investigate what had happened. They let us back out 40 minutes later.

I knew it was on, and I had a better idea of who had stolen my store. I thought I knew before, but I realized it was three of them. I had underestimated their desire and passion to hurt me.

I am going to clamp down on these guys before I write more, and I won’t be taking them lightly.

Domestic Violence is never an acceptable thing for any man to do.  But when someone who is considered a roll model and has a forum for to speak publicly it can certainly cause concern and raise eyebrows.

But when that person is an ESPN reporter named Stephen A. Smith, for making disparaging remarks rebuking women for "provoking an attack". The comments occurred last week while addressing the two-game suspension of NFL running back, Ray Rice.

After Rice was suspended for his arrest for his attack on his then-girlfriend, Smith said this...

"We keep talking about the guys. We know you have no business putting your hands on a woman. I don’t know how many times I got to reiterate that.

But as a man who was raised by women, see I know what I’m going to do if somebody touches a female member of my family. I know what I’m going to do, I know what my boys are going to do. I know what, I’m going to have to remind myself that I work for the Worldwide Leader, I’m going to have to get law enforcement officials involved because of what I’m going to be tempted to do."

"But what I’ve tried to employ the female members of my family, some of who you all met and talked to and what have you, is that again, and this what, I’ve done this all my life, let’s make sure we don’t do anything to provoke wrong actions, because if I come, or somebody else come, whether it’s law enforcement officials, your brother or the fellas that you know, if we come after somebody has put their hands on you, it doesn’t negate the fact that they already put their hands on you."

Stephen A. Smith then issued an on-air apology That was Friday. The following Monday, Smith issued an on-air apology.

“On Friday, speaking right here on “First Take” on the subject of domestic violence, I made what can only amount to the most egregious error of my career. My words came across that it is somehow a woman’s fault. This was not my intent. It is not what was trying to say,” he said.

Nevertheless, ESPN President John Skipper came out with an announcement of his own. “We’ve said publicly and in this space that those remarks did not reflect our company’s point of view, or our values,” Skipper said. “They certainly don’t reflect my personal beliefs.”

Smith is no stranger to backlash. Smith is so naturally outspoken and audiences are so accustomed to his outspokenness until nothing he says really comes as a jolt to the system. This time droves of people sparked by outrage took to twitter to criticize his remarks including fellow ESPN reporter Michelle Beadle.

Domestic Violence is never acceptable, nor should it be condoned or justified but it was by a someone who maybe should know better....

“The View’s” host Whoopi Goldberg recently came to his defense stating, Now some people are outraged, and let me just point out that the comment that he made was based on what the young lady said she did. I’m sorry, if you hit somebody, you cannot be sure you are not going to get hit back,” Goldberg persisted. “I know I’m going to catch a lot of heel, and I don’t care. You hit somebody, they hit you back! Don’t be surprised!”

There should never be an excuse for this, ever.

Children are suffering "sadistic levels" of sexual abuse by gangs, but services designed to protect them are still woefully inadequate, a new study has found.

The research for the Childrens Commissioner said victims of gang sexual abuse could be as young as 11 years old and the offenders as young as 12 years old.

The children also have younger siblings who are on the fringes of being at risk.

Deputy Childrens Commissioner, Sue Berelowitz, told Sky News: "I have worked with many children who have been victims of sexual violence, but I have never before encountered the levels of sadism and cruelty that I have during this inquiry.

"The sheer degree of depravity that has been enacted on children, sometimes by other children, has been truly shocking."

The report also found that only 6% of Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs) are fully complying with key parts of Government guidance on tackling sexual exploitation.

"Whilst 98% of LSCBs told the inquiry that Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) is a strategic priority, almost half were unable to tell us how many victims had been identified during 2012 in their local area," it said.

"During site visits we also continued to hear references to children putting themselves at risk, rather than the perpetrators being the risk to children."

The report went on: "Too many people who should be protecting children are in denial about the realities of CSE and therefore do not believe what children may tell them. One young person told us They made me feel like it was my fault."

In a long list of failings, the report says agencies are "failing to engage" with children, that there is a "lack of leadership" and "limited or no strategic planning".

It also emerged that one chair of a Childrens Safeguarding Board did not even know there was a set of Government guidelines on the issue.

Ms Berelowitz, told Sky News the panel had been shocked by the lack of action being taken.

"There is no doubt that children are still falling through the net because of some serious failings," she said.

"It was of great concern to us to identify that of the top 15 requirements that Local Safeguarding Board must comply with to protect children, only 6% are doing what they should be doing.

"So the vast majority of them have a long way to go before they are doing what they should be doing in law to protect children."

A two-year study by the University of Bedfordshire, which was released alongside the report, said that rape was used by gang members as "a form of weaponry".

Report author Jenny Pearce told Sky News: "Thirty four per cent said multiple rape was commonplace among gangs.

"Initiation to a gang might be through raping a girl. A young man might have his girlfriend raped as a form of punishment. Someone might be raped for failing to perform a task."

She added: "Only one in 12 said they would report a rape, and of those most would only tell peers.

"They wont go to the police. Thats something we need to address."

The report authors spoke to 188 young people living in gang-affected areas and found that gang sexual violence was not confined to inner cities, or even deprived areas, but was a countrywide problem.

To coincide with these two reports, London Metropolitan University has studied young peoples attitudes to rape and sexual consent.

Young people were given rape scenarios and asked whether they felt consent had been given.

Dr Maddy Coy, who conducted the study, said: "There is a sense that young womens actions are always under scrutiny.

"If they have accepted a drink, or worn a top that flatters their breasts, that is seen as an invitation to have sex and they are blamed for what happens next.

"The focus is always on those giving consent, but not enough focus on getting consent. Young people are not aware of what getting consent looks like."

Dr Coy added that only a "minority of young people we spoke to felt that consent should be negotiated".

The Childrens Commission is now calling for the Department of Education to review the guidance on child sexual exploitation and to ensure that local services are complying with what has already been set out.

It suggests problem-profiling of potential victims, offenders and gangs needs to take place - along with a greater emphasis on relationship and sex education by trained professionals for children and young people.

I am a foreign national serving a seven-year sentence in Peru. I write this as a cry for help. Shaun, as I was reading your book, Prison Time, something kept pushing at the inside of me to tell you how the foreigners here are suffering.

Most of us have no means of support and never hear from our embassies. Getting freedom is so hard. We go back and forth to court, which usually gets postponed for small things. Some foreigners give up hope.

We can apply to return to our countries, but we have to pay our tickets and fines. We have to present our papers from inside to the director and other managing bodies. From there, we wait up to three months before going to court, where they determine your release date. Sometimes they lose your documents, which means you have to start over again and run around and get your documents.

Do you know of any international human rights organisations I may be able to get in contact with? Or do you know of an organisation like Prisoners Abroad but for other foreigners? I would be very grateful. Many of us are stranded here because we have no means.

There aren’t many work opportunities, and strangely, if you want to work, you have to pay to be in the workplace. Everything works in reverse here.

They put a guy in our pod who had got into a fight in the kitchen. He said he had to fight a guy because several of the food workers were coughing and sneezing over the food as it was being prepared. In front of everyone in here, I asked him if that was going on all the time and he said yes.

When they served chow after that, everyone walked over to the trash can and dropped their trays in. That got the guards’ attention. Shortly after that, the commander came up here with the Strategic Response Team (goon squad). He said that the food was safe to eat, so I said please eat it then. Twenty guards looked at him. He wouldn’t eat it.

So a sergeant picked up a tray, looked at it, took a bite and stopped. He extracted a piece of wood from his mouth.

The commander turned red and locked us down. They stripped us naked, had us sit down with our hands on our heads and pepper-sprayed four prisoners. They took those four to lockdown. The commander said if he heard any more out of us, he would lock us down for a week.

Word got out to some of the other pods and all hell broke loose with the other prisoners over the food. Sheriff Joe Arpaio is crazy feeding us this stuff that is so nasty.

I still want to grab some of these jokers in my pod by the neck and make them tell me who stole my stuff and make them pay me, but I’m going to wait on God because that’s what my heart is saying to do.

My leg is much better. I had to stop a situation the other day, but I’ll write about that later.
