diy airbrush tattoo ink | Hepatitis C triples in the Appalachian states due to intravenous drugusage as per CDC reports

,

diy airbrush tattoo ink

The chances of Hepatitis C has jumped thrice in the four Appalachian states in the instance of hepatitis C. This came up in the study conducted by the US Centers of Diseases Control and Prevention.

The CDC scanned the time zone between 2006 and 2012 and hepatitis C infections were on the rise in rural areas of Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. This increased the rate by 364 percent and the incidence of hepatitis C was highest reported in the age group below 30.  The reason that hepatitis C was due to intravenous drug usage that was rampant. In the same time, hospital
admissions for the treatment of opioid dependency jumped from 21.1 percent in the said states. In fact going with the facts and figures, close to 44.8% of the 1,377 fresh instances were reported in the age group below 30. This led to confirmed reports that the incidence was highest in the 30 age group which sees the maximum incidence of hepatitis C.

The main reasons for this were substance use treatment that the natives of these places were subject to. The increase in heroin use in these states matched the national census that talked of first-time heroin use from 90,000 people in 2006 to close to 156,000 in 2012. The latest figures supporting the claims of the study was reported.

The rate of HIV or infection among the young target group who inject drugs in Central Apalachia is quite low as compared to the figures in the four states.  Hepatitis C is the most common infection that is blood-borne and affects close to 3 million people.

The report was published in the May 8 edition of the morbidity and mortality weekly report.

diy sun tattoo | Your Life as an Inmate Guest Blog by Tommy Chandler

,

diy sun tattoo

Tommy Chandler went to the Denver Detention Center two times this year for 54 and 55 days. One was a theft charge and the other was urinating in public. He is 44 years old and 93 days sober after using meth and marijuana for 33 years. He wrote this in jail:
The bricks have no warmth here, nothing but the cold reality surrounding you. Caged in like the mighty lion that got caught, his instincts slowly fading away. Your aching back is begging for freedom again. Until then nothing but a cold metal bunk bed with a two-inch-thick broken-down mat is all you get. The loud snoring in both cells on each side has you sandwiched into never-ending sleepless nights.
Once a week, most look forward to commissary day. Some will be smiling like kids on Christmas, others just sitting enviously like kids in the corner that Santa forgot, wishing they would have heard their name called to go get their bag of goodies.
Loneliness constantly creeps into your mind and heart. But you’re never alone as you’re constantly surrounded by other inmates and guards. Most of whom couldn’t care whether you existed or not.
Few inmates can remember phone numbers of contacts in their cell phones. Those that can need their friends or family to prepay phone time to accept collect calls. Unfortunately, most have burned everyone outside due to drugs, bad behavior and bad decisions. So phone calls and visits are rare.
The food is repetitive and lacks in so many ways they just call it chow. It is served three times a day. There is a twelve-hour span between your last meal that day and breakfast the next morning. So your options are to starve, save and hide food for a snack later or eat commissary. Some pitch in together and combine items to make spreads, giving them something that tastes good and fills stomachs until the next meal. The hungry ones sit watching and wishing they could join in, almost like that little fat kid who didn’t get picked to play ball.
Once a week, you get a clean uniform and linens. First you turn in your dirty ones. Then before being given clean ones, everyone is put out into the courtyard. Then the guards search the entire place. They rummage through everyone’s belongings, making a mess to clean up, confiscating items not issued to you or bought through commissary, removing anything extra that might provide comfort, individuality, or a sense of home until your release.
This wasn’t written to complain or condemn the system, jails or prisons in any way. Reform and retraining grown adults is not easy to do. I commend all you officers trying to do your best to enforce our laws and protect our rights. What I am saying is if you have ever done drugs, domestic violence, been abusive, or if you just plain keep making bad choices and bad decisions, then please change or this will be your life as an inmate.

diy glitter tattoo stencils | Gangs use time in Jail as a school!

,

diy glitter tattoo stencils

For gang members, jail is a school, a place to learn gang history, politics and economics. But in this school, if they are disciplined, they graduate to a higher status among their peers.

In jail, young gang members also are educated in how to make weapons, what to expect if they are destined for prison and how to communicate with fellow gang members both within the same jail and in prisons around the state.

Jail is where many orders from so-called shot callers are carried out, like assaults or killings of rival gang members or members within the gang who have defected.

The Stanislaus County Jails majority gang, NorteƱo, is even referred to a
s the junior varsity of the Nuestra Familia, a prison gang with which it is associated.

While many members grow up in neighborhoods considered turf by gangs, it isnt until they go to jail that most choose a side — northerner or southerner — and truly become affiliated. Upon their release, the future crimes they commit are expected to be for the benefit of the gang.

diy tattoo choker bracelet | DAs Son Charged as driver in Gang Shooting

,

diy tattoo choker bracelet

California prosecutors believe the son of the Merced County district attorney was behind the wheel of a vehicle last year during a drive-by shooting that claimed a teenager’s life, according to documents obtained Tuesday by the Merced Sun-Star.
The defense attorney representing Ethan B. Morse, son of Larry D. Morse II, said his client is innocent and that the Merced County Sheriff’s Department has arrested the wrong person.
Morse, 18, appeared briefly Tuesday in Merced Superior Court, but did not enter a plea to charges of murder and permitting another person to shoot from his vehicle in connection with the death of Bernabed Hernandez-Canela, 18. Hernandez-Canela was shot and killed March 30, 2013, at a large house party in the 9200 block of Westside Boulevard near Atwater.
Morse was 16 at the time of the incident. He was arrested Friday outside his Merced home.
Morse, who graduated in June from Golden Valley High School, is also accused of acting in association with a criminal street gang. If convicted of all charges, Morse faces a potential life prison sentence, according to the documents filed Tuesday.
Morse’s co-defendant, Jacob Tellez, 18, of Merced, also known as Jacob Logan, has been charged as the shooter in Hernandez-Canela’s death, according to court records.
Two others, Samantha Parreira, 16, and Mathew Fisher, 19, were also shot and killed during the same house party. Jose L. Botello and Jose M. Carballido, both 19-year-old Atwater residents, have been charged as co-defendants in connection with the deaths of Parreira and Fisher.
Investigators believe the party started as an Easter celebration for high school students, drawing more than 100 people, including members of rival street gangs. Detectives have declined to comment on any incidents at the party that may have sparked the violence. They also have not said whether any weapons have been recovered.
State attorneys are handling both cases in light of the alleged connection of the Merced district attorney’s son.
Morse appeared in court Tuesday via video monitor, wearing a long-sleeved, lime green jail shirt. He made no statements, only answering a record-keeping question regarding his date of birth from visiting Judge Donald E. Shaver.
Barton Bowers, the deputy attorney general prosecuting the case, said he does not plan to seek the death penalty against Morse.
The Merced County district attorney did not attend his son’s arraignment Tuesday. However, his wife, Cindy, was present. The veteran Merced prosecutor has referred media questions about the case to his son’s attorney, Kirk McAllister.
McAllister asked the judge to postpone the arraignment to allow time for the defense to go through the evidence. Morse is due back in court Aug. 7. He remains in custody in Mariposa County Jail without bail.
McAllister on Tuesday continued to criticize the investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Department. McAllister said Morse is innocent of any wrongdoing. He indicated Morse does not know who committed the crime but came forward to tell investigators that he was with Tellez on the night in question and never saw him fire a weapon.
“He went to say, ‘No, you got the wrong guy,’ and it turned out to be a more dangerous act of citizenship than he ever intended it to be,” McAllister said outside the courthouse Tuesday.
McAllister said it was never a matter of Morse withholding evidence but wanting to tell the Sheriff’s Department that Tellez should not be considered a suspect in the case.
The attorney general’s office declined to comment. Sheriff Tom Cavallero has said he has confidence in the work done by the Major Crimes Unit and noted that state prosecutors appear to have confidence in the case as well.
Tellez, Botello and Carballido are expected to appear again today in Merced Superior Court. They all have been accused of personally firing guns on the night of the triple homicide.
Morse is charged with murder, though he is not accused of firing any weapons or killing anyone directly.
California is one of several states in which the person accused of being behind the wheel in an alleged drive-by shooting is as legally responsible for the incident as the alleged shooter, according to professor Stephen Routh, chairman of the political science department at California State University, Stanislaus.
“In general, a person charged in that situation is basically an accomplice, someone who aided and abetted the crime,” Routh explained. “Under California law, they’re held as responsible for the crime as the actual shooter.”

diy tattoo table | Life As a New Mom My Thoughts 5 Months Later

,

diy tattoo table

Today is exactly 20 weeks or almost 5 months since Ive become a Mom to my very lovely baby girl, Fayth. I am back to working full time and almost completed a month of work now. Looking back, time really flew past fast. It felt like just few moments ago where I was pregnant, to giving birth and recuperating during confinement, then having slight post-partum depression (because baby cried profusely), then finally coming out of it and started finally enjoying motherhood.

Jotting down my overall experience as a new mom for memories to keep. Maybe I can show this to Fayth when shes grown up and tell her how much Mummy & Daddy been through. Haha!

Honest feelings
To be honest before I gave birth to Fayth, I was rather chilled and not that excited at all for her arrival. Neither did I dislike the idea of having a baby, I just did not feel the kind of excitement like my hubs did. I was the type who jumped for joy at the sight of cute animals and rushes over just to touch, but do not show such affection for babies. Ive always thought of babies being adorable, but would rather not have one on my own since I was the soloist who loved my freedom. Getting pregnant was one of my biggest decisions in life; I was actually hoping to feel more alive and joyful again. Okay, long story about why I needed something to make me feel happier - to summarize, I came from a broken family and experienced alot growing up. I used to be a really happy girl but grew into a cold person. Despite all the bad times Ive been through, deep down I knew this was not who I want to be forever and wanted to let the negative side of me go. For a long time I struggled to come out of it but I myself could not break the walls down on my own, so I thought giving up my freedom in exchange for something or someone to make me a better person was worth it. I know some of you may judge me and think that I may have had the idea of using my baby for my happiness, but really, I believe there are/were many parents who started out not in love with their babies.

Arrival of Fayth
The first few seconds when I saw this full-haired infant carried in my Gynaes hands, I felt a blank - literally not knowing how to feel at that very moment but also I was in a slight shock to see this little human with so much hair, hahaha really. After she was being cleaned and put on my chest for the first time, I did not feel the immediate connection but still was slightly emotional for realising the sudden changes, i.e. change in physical, lifestyle, status, erm everything I guess?
Confinement = Roller Coaster In a Confined Space (your mind)
Mummies usually go through an emotional roller coaster ride after birth because she has a new life to adapt to. From having to accept that baby isnt in her body anymore, to adapting to the new lifestyle, new commitments, breastfeeding issues (if she breastfeeds), handling hormonal changes that affects both physical and emotionally, and overall stress (or additional stress from your family members). I remembered during my second night in the hospital when I was holding my baby and preparing to breastfeed her, for a split second I could not contain my emotions and I cried telling my hubby "shes so cute", lol. During the first week of confinement, I was literally crying every evening as I was feeling stressed from the pressure my mil was giving. My mil was the kind who would "time" babys feeds and if my baby were to cry earlier for milk she would question about my supply.

Hands-on For The First Time - When My Nanny Left Us
The first night Hubs and I did our night shift, I practically could not sleep cuz I was all anxious and filled with anxiety. And soon later we met with an even bigger problem; that my girl would not take her milk quietly - she would cry every time she got hungry, then screamed when we gave her the bottle. This behavior peaked at around her 2nd month to the extend I got into depression the weekend I was left home alone with baby. We tried to change her bottle and teats and it kinda improved but still she was not an easy one to feed. There were times when I questioned myself whether I made the right choice to commit to this new life but I just brushed the thought off since it is my responsibility to be a Mother to my newborn. I miss the times where I latched her bcuz she would drink quietly every time I gave her (.)(.) - surely something I look forward to for my next! Just FYI, she was initially on Avent Natural Bottle but hated it so much and we finally changed to Pigeons Peristaltic bottles - life saver!
Babies Grow Up Fast
Seeing my baby grow up so fast makes me feel so different at every stage.
1st month - happy, sad, exhausted, stressed.
2nd month - depressed, stressed, and more depressed.
3rd month - slight relief of depression, getting a hang of the routine.
4th month - depression and fear of feeding baby almost gone, and starting to really enjoy the quality time spent with baby.

Many parents complain that their babies grow too fast and wished for time to stop. For me, I embrace every age theyre at and look forward to their next. Ever since Ive started working, things got alot better and I appreciate the quality time spent with Fayth much much more. Every moment that shes awake, Ill be there to play or watch her - to the extend I could also feel her reciprocate.
If you remember at the start of this post I mentioned Ive never had a thing for babies, I do now and Im in love with her! I never thought I was capable of having such feelings and to answer my own question; no! It was surely a right choice!

Life as a new mom made me change in some ways, im sure some Mummies could relate. For those of you who arent a Mummy yet, well, I would say you really couldnt relate until youve experienced it for yourself!

1. Over Protective of Baby
Whenever I baby-wear Fayth while shopping and someone bangs into me, I naturally give a "death stare". Like "Ay, you walk and not watch where you are headed cannot see a woman carrying a sleeping baby one meh"?! Mothers instinct; more like tigeress (aka "Mu Lao Hu"). Hahaha.

2. Jealousy
Sometimes I feel strange but I do get jealous at times. I try not to feel this way cuz Id feel petty if I do, but strangely I still do. *bleah* E.g. when hubs plays with her and leaves me aside when were out, or when someone talks to her and mentions all about themselves (example) "You love Daddy"?, "Only Daddy plays with you hor", and when I see someone kissing her too often. Its not an issue despite the feelings of jealousy, bcuz I am glad that my hubby is pretty hands-on with her and also the affection from my family and friends.

3. Change in Fashion Sense
Just one word to describe my current fashion - COMFORT. Lol!
Anything comfy thats at least decent-looking is all the criteria it takes to make it to my current wardrobe, especially during the weekends. I hardly wear makeup anymore, and even if I do its just concealer just not to look like a zombie. Always in flats and sneaks, shorts and pants. Hair is always up cuz this girl can really pull! Accessories kept to bare minimal; only wear necklaces when Im at work and the rest of the time with her Ill have my Fitbit and wedding ring on. Before I became a mom, I always thought of diaper bags to be very "Auntie" (aka look old). Now Im considering one bcuz of the way it helps to keep everything organised so its easy to look for things quickly - efficiency and functionality is what us parents want.

4. Wefies
Wefie after birth, breastfeeding, shopping, bedtime, day time, any time - you get the point.

5. Comparing Own Baby Photos with Babys Photos
I think most Mummies are guilty as charged? And yes I know we dont look anything alike, she takes on her Dad for looks and some of my weird physical features like long lashes and hairy body. Haha.

6. Shopping for Babys Stuff and Falling Victim for Over-Priced Items
New parents tend to over shop for baby and even buying over-priced items just bcuz it seems to be the best for the little one. I had no plans to own any baby carriers or diaper bags bcuz it was given free but ended up due to needs, had to get one. Not only that I got one, I got the more expensive ones.. e.g a baby carrier that costs $300+ with some accessories, and a diaper bag that costs close to $300. We even got a set of self-warming milk bottles that cost a few hundreds but ended up not using. This well probably have to keep for our next. Oh ya, Babyspa was also a big splurge. Tsktsk*

7. Baby-Wear Everywhere
Before I got a TULA baby carrier, I slung Fayth in a BABA Sling every time we were out. I even tried to sling her at home during days she was alot more cranky just to put her to sleep. Now that Ive got a TULA baby carrier, I baby wear her out on my own on weekends when hubs needs to work and Ill take Fayth out gai-gai (aka shopping). When I say everywhere, literally everywhere.... even in the loo. Hahaha.. Too much info eh. Hello, you imagine going out on your own, there wouldnt be anyone to hold your baby except yourself. So yea.. Btw if in case you were wondering about my TULA, its a standard canvas baby carrier in Puppylove and I got mine from Bumwear @ Marina Square. You could read about my previous post on baby wearing here. Youre welcome.

8. Sleep Less and Work More
Im lucky to be one of those who could survive with little sleep; the most ill get neck aches and that would lead me to having tension headaches. Most night shifts are done by me (credits to hubs who helps me on some nights), I work in the day and return home in the evening busy with all her stuff. Id have to have a quick dinner, bathe her, bathe myself, do her laundry, do our laundry, massage and feed her then put her to bed. Thats a typical routine. Cant imagine breastfeeding Mummies whod have to pump on top of everything. Kudos Mummies! Besides the usual routine for baby & I, I still try to fit in time for workouts. Being a busy Mummy doesnt give any excuse to be less fit & healthy. Being a busy Mummy isnt any excuse to forgo personal grooming. Whoah, busy but fulfilling.

9. Acquire a New Language - Baby Talk
I never knew how to do baby talk. Thats also partly the reason why I dont play with babies. I feel strange or embarrassed making those squeaky sounds or take in cutesy voices. Now, im totally comfortable and good at it. You know youre good at it when your baby smiles or laughs at your goofy faces.

10. Joining Mums Group and Reading Mummies Group Posts on Facebook
When I was still a pregger, my friend who already became a first-time-dad recommended me a few support groups on Facebook telling me how informative they were for him and his wife. At first I was doubtful about joining such groups, but I tell you, eventually most of my help came from such support groups. It was really useful to join respective groups for the kind of help you need. E.g. breastfeeding group, Mummys group, baby wearing group, etc. Till today, most of my time on Facebook mostly dedicates to reading posts from parents support groups as well as commenting to help new parents.

11. Talk About Babies All The Time
Mummy meets another Mummy = talk about babies. Lol. #lifeasamom

So that kinda sums up the new life I have as a new mom. Hope you enjoyed reading my post and if youd like to read more of my writings do follow me for more updates.
