diy tattoo temp | Product Review Winter Organics Camomile Facial Cleanser

,

diy tattoo temp

A basic skin care regimen starts with a good cleanser. Facial cleansers help remove makeup, dirt, pollutants, and oils. Going to bed with clean skin is essential for your skin to breathe, keeping pores unclogged is key for healthy and radiant-looking skin. And startng the day with fresh clean skin is the way for easy and smooth make up application. Having a cleanser which cleans is important, yet you need one which isnt too strong that it remoces all oils i.e. the natural oils that keep your face hydrated, because then it could dry out your skin which in turn leads your face to produce even more oils. Did you know sometimes oily skin is caused by dryness? Now you do! ; )

I myself have combination skin, which sometimes can get rather oily on my T-zone especially after mid-day. Certain times when I use products that are too strong, I find my skin feeling tight after wash - that indicates that cleanser was drying for my sensitive skin. I would find myself waking up with more oils in the morning day after.

It took me a few years to realise my skin was sensitive cuz my skin tends to turn reddish quickly after being irritated; I was told later on by a few beauticians that my skin was probably the sensitive kind. Since then I have always kept "gentle" or "suitable for sensitive skin" labels as a priority when it comes to looking for beauty products.

natural organic beauty product for face sensitive skin type gentle gel

Recently Ive been introduced to this newly launched gentle cleanser by Winter Organics - their Chamomile Facial Cleanser. It is made with organic ingredients and suitable for all skin types, also including sensitive skin which is great! And whats even better is that this product not tested against animals; cruelty free and vegan! Three hoorays for Winter Organics!

From the list above, you can see that ingredients used are naturally derived and au natural. My favourite ingredient would be Calendula since Ive been fairly familiar with it since recently I have been using Calendula baby care range for my 3-month old baby girl. Calendula is a plant extract which is beneficial for dry skin, scars, and wounds. It is gentle with moisturizing and healing properties. If you did read my previous blog post you would know I shared about using Calendula facial cream for my baby when she had tiny red bumps on her face (read here: http://vannytelly.blogspot.sg/2015/11/baby-preparation-hospital-packing-list.html), just a few applications and it all went away. Miracle or what? ; )

What I love about this product?

- The Orange Scent
When I first used the Chamomile Facial Cleanser, I thought to myself how much I loved the citrus-y smell. On the subsequent washes, there was a time I said in my mind "OMG I LOVE THE SCENT"... Hahaha..  Really love the smell, cannot explain. Try and tell me if you love it as much as I do. Its really refreshing and calming.

- Gentle on sensitive skin
Cleanser is pH5 formulated which is suitable for all skin types and even sensitive skin. It even speeds up acne healing time with anti-inflammatory properties. My skin felt fresh and definitely no tightness after washing, in fact my face felt soft and supple. I was told that the cleanser is so gentle, I could use on my baby as well. Hehe.

- Natural & Organic
Zero chemicals = healthy well being. In this day & time, many things we use and eat are polluted with chemicals - which may cause health hazards later in life. Body belongs to oneself, why not do your part to take care of your health in any possible way. In this aspect, it is as simple as that. ; )

- Cruelty Free
For an animal lover, this was definitely an eye-catcher and motivation to grab a tube or two. Products from Winter Organics is certified cruelty free and vegan under People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). You know it is when you see this cute bunny logo on the product.

diy tattoo that lasts a month | My Plastic Surgery Review with Wish Clinic Taipei Part 3

,

diy tattoo that lasts a month

The rest of the days spent in Taipei was rather relaxing. Some days were spent in the apartment resting & relaxing, other days I went out to walk around but mostly just nearby or to Ximending since Zhongxiao Dunhua station was just 5 stops away from Ximending station. Zhongxiao Donglu was near the area I lived, and it is kinda an equivalent to Singapores Orchard Road. If youre into themed cafes or just nice cosy cafes, theres a few in that district which you can visit while youre in the area.

More photos to show how the neighborhood looked like.
Walked around and stumbled onto the steps of the popular Dazzling Cafe.. Didnt try it since I wasnt an avid fan of thick toasts. Well, at least now you know wheres one of their chain stores.
Some other little stores around the corner.
This building sits on the opposite side of the road to the area where I live. Most shops housed in this area are no stanger; from Uniqlo to Forever 21, Fossil and Adidas.. All in this same area. I personally went to their Forever 21 store, prices are pretty similar but their sale items are alot cheaper! It was near winter season then so most sale items were spring/summer clothing, great for our weather and priced for a steal. ; )
And this big building, is the one that houses Wish Clinic. Super easy to locate. Just look for this Korean fashion brand, SPAO... practically takes the entire space of level one. Surely not miss it!

Took my Mom to 2 themed cafes during this trip; Hello Kitty Sweets Cafe near Zhongxiao Fuxing station & Toilet Cafe which was located in Ximending. Prices of course compared to local food were expensive, but comparable to cafe prices in Singapore. Figured out what better way to spend time with my Mom having fun lunches and taking loads of Wefies together. Both cafes provided free wifi, which was great since we could post our pics while feasting.

My Aunt took my Mom & I to a Hong Kong cafe in Ximending one noon for lunch, the food was yummy and price was affordable. The HK cafe served roasted meat and noodles, as well as Dim Sum. Three of us had a very filling lunch for SGD$50. We ordered almost a total of 10 items for that price. But unfortunately I didnt get the address or photo of the shop, super satisfied after lunch I totally forgotten to take a snap shot. Alamak *slaps face*. Will share again if I find out later! Heres just a few pictures taken to let your eyes salivate. Haha.

This was a wrong order. My Aunt wanted a Bubble Milk Tea but she ordered a Bubble Milk Dessert instead. Turns out, this was one of my fav item ordered. Super yums! Its Milk Tea ice shavings on a bed of pudding, topped with a scoop of Milk Tea Ice Cream (which was super creamy in texture!!) and a pool of pearls. Must try!

Roasted Char Siew (Pork) & Roasted Chicken. Ive never been a big fan of Roasted Chicken but this simply took my taste buds away. The chicken meat was super tender it almost melted in my mouth. YUMS! : P
Taiwanese Braised Beef Noodles, my all-time Fav Taiwanese dish since I was a kid. They serve a good one here. Beef meat & tendons were really tender and juicy, soup was great even wo chilli (since I could not take spicy food). Def will go back for this again when I come back to Ximending!

Salmon Sashimi was fresh.
And now it suddenly feels like im writing about food more than my surgery.. Hahaha.. Hey, its Taiwan and its all about food here!! Share with you guys one more thing, again about food.. Some days when I stayed in, I packed "Bian Dang" at this shop near my apartment. Its like our "Cai Fan" (aka Mixed Vegetable Rice) but in Taiwan they serve a wide variety of dishes compared to what we have here. Pictures to prove..!

Trip to Taiwan My Plastic Surgery Journey with Wish Clinic Taipei Part 3
Ladys Finger, Kelp, Pumpkin, Tomato Egg.. So simple yet super yum can!! If Im not wrong this cost NT$65, which is equivalent to SGD$3.. Cheap right?
take out salmon brown rice
For carb base, there were choices of white rice, brown rice, vermicelli, and noodles. I chose brown rice to try. The salmon was super deli! This set cost approx NT$110, which is equivalent to SGD$5... How not to love Taiwan?! Lol.
take out local cheap food
Kimchi w Pork, Pork Liver, Dried Tofu, Tomato Egg.... *slurps*

A snap shot of how the place looks like. Look at the varieties of dishes, so much more than what we have in Sg!
place to eat local food
And a snap shot of the shop. If you see some place like this next time, try it for super affordable and yummy meals. ; )
Trip to Taiwan My Plastic Surgery Journey with Wish Clinic Taipei Part 3
And whats a beverage not to miss when in Taiwan? Bubble Tea! On average a large cup cost NT$50, that is equivalent to SGD2+... Half the price of a large cup of Koi in Sg. Think Bubble Tea lovers will get sugar high from OD-ing on this sweet drink while on holiday. Haha.

And so that was my food diary for the trip.. So lets check out my post-op recovery process with these pics Ive taken along the way.

IDK why my face was puffy. If anyone didnt know, would think I have done fat grafting on my face or something - which I did not lah. It might be water retention or something.

What do you think of my recovery progress? Doesnt seem that bad eh?
Stitches behind my ear; wound for the removal of ear cartilage for tiplasty. Stitches were removed on the 11th day post op back in Singapore because the wound was still a little raw so I waited out a few days before getting the stitches at an aesthetics clinic in SG.

So far its been a month post op and the recovery process has been fine, results seem satisfying and I cant wait to see the final results when the swelling is totally gone. My plastic surgery journey so far has brought me new experiences; good and bad.. well I would say the thing I disliked most was the recovery process, where the initial stages looking awkward with the swelling was most annoying but honestly I couldnt care less about anyone knowing since Ive already publicly shared on my blog. Think most people, esp first-timers, would hide at home and avoid seeing anyone until he/she has recovered and back looking normal. But for me I already am at the stage I would just walk around with my swollen lids, haha.. Other than this, I feel great already with my new features. I know as much as how weird it sounds, it makes me feel quite alive going through this process. Maybe the norm and the routine is so mundane I just give myself excuses to get plastic surgery done. Im not saying you should get PS done if you feel bored, just do it if it would make you happier. Choice is yours, dont listen to haters. Am ending the topic on my recent PS journey with this blog post and feel free to drop me messages or mails if you have any questions and Ill gladly help if possible.

diy tattoo touch up | Baby Wearing Baby Carriers vs Slings TULA vs Baba Sling

,

diy tattoo touch up

I see many new Mummies asking around, finding out information about baby wearing before deciding whether to invest in a baby sling or a baby carrier - thats probably the first headache before having to decide on the brand.

Before my BBG, Fayth was born, I have already decided that I would be a thrifty Mummy who only buys things that are necessary since I know alot of new parents tend to over-buy things and end up having alot of clutter at home. Nah, I disliked that idea. As it was SG50 this year, babies borned in Singapore were considered Jubilee Babies and would be given a Jubilee Baby Gift pack from the government. The gift pack included a baby sling by Baba Sling. So when Hubs & I went shopping for babys stuff, of course I knew baby slings and/or carriers were to be stiked off the shopping list.

My first time using the Baba Sling was after Fayths full month when Hubs & I took her to the PD for her first months checkup. I searched for the baby wearing tutorial on Youtube and followed the video instructions. The first method the video taught was the Koala Cuddle (with her arms inside the sling) so I just followed and got it right on the first try. It was quite easy for me to use though Ive seen alot of Mummies on Facebooks group commenting that it was really difficult and complicated to use.

Usually when Hubs & I take Fayth out on the weekends we would put her in the stroller when we have our meals and Id wear her in her Baba Sling other times. Shes now almost 3.5 months old and on the last family day out I started to feel slight strain on my shoulder and waist - guess shes growing and getting heavier already. Lol. Baba Sling did advise to change the slings position every 45 minutes to prevent strain, I guess I just didnt listen to advise well.. **opps** The only reason why I didnt change the slings position or change sides was because my girl would fall asleep soundly in the sling and I just dont bear to wake her up.

Until recently Ive noticed many Mummies on Facebook sharing pics of them wearing baby in TULA Baby Carrier which looked pretty stylish and comfy. One Mummy carried her baby in exactly this design below called "Pixelated", it was really pretty. : )

Since Fayth was getting older and neck getting stronger by the days, I thought it would be good soon to use the carrier on her. Shared with my Hubs how popular TULA carrier was and we decided to head to Bumwear to try out on baby.

I had friends who started using TULA Baby Carrier since infancy (with the baby insert; baby inserts are needed for babies below 7kg of weight), because they as well found the Baba Sling difficult to use. My friends shared with me why they chose TULA brand out of all the baby carrier brands; that most of their friends recommended this brand... even before they converted theyve tried other brands which the fabric tends to be warmer. TULA baby carriers are also printed in more stylish designs and many to choose from! One of my girlfriends shared with me this comparison chart below which I found useful as a visual guide; just FYI! Oh oh, and TULA Baby Carriers can hold babies up to 22kg, so its quite a good investment cuz its not like a use for few months kind of thing. But I think Ill probably not want to wear Fayth by then. Haha. ; )

Bumwear was a little shop located on the 3rd level of Marina Square Mall. I got to try out the baby carrier with the help from the friendly store assistant. It was a breeze to put the carrier on and wear baby, Fayth looked comfortable and was happy being in it. The TULA Baby Carrier was going for $229 in the store and we purchased it after trying and selecting of the print I wanted, even though I knew it was just slightly more costly than online prices (i.e. $219). I didnt mind paying $10 more, took it as a service fee for trying and seeing all the prints in person before I really decide to commit to one.

I baby wore Fayth in my new toy immediately and it felt so comfortable, no more one-sided shoulder & back aches! Yay! If you see the picture below, babys legs are supposed to be extended past the carrier so Ill need to wait for her to grow a little more to be using this carrier since I didnt buy the infant insert (bcuz shes almost 7kg and her legs are almost there). Mummy loves her new TULA Baby Carrier in Puppy Love. Thanks to Daddy for the early Xmas prezzie! : D

After using both slings and carriers, I would say they are equally good - but just serves different purposes. I love baby wearing for the convenience when going out and also while traveling. Based on my own experience, Ill share the cons for each type...

Baby Slings:
~ great for newborns because their neck are not stable to turn and hold up on their own.
~ super snug, makes babies feel like theyre carried in Mummys arms.
~ breastfeeding outdoors are easier.

Baby Carriers:
~ easier to wear as compared to slings.
~ distributes babys weight evenly thus reduces backaches especially one-sided aches on shoulder/back.
~ can be used until baby is older (may differ for brands).
~ when baby can turn their heads and are awake more in the day, being in a carrier lets them look around.

Do bear in mind the TICKS checklist for safe babywearing.

Investing in a good baby sling/carrier is important for baby wearing. Choosing between a baby sling or baby carrier depends on a few factors to consider. And ultimately, the one who really chooses which to use is really your baby. So its always a good idea to try out the sling/carrier before committing to purchase. Happy trying & shopping Mummies & Daddies!

diy tattoo using calligraphy ink | My Plastic Surgery Review with Wish Clinic Taipei Part 2

,

diy tattoo using calligraphy ink

Meeting Dr Chuang for the first time; my impression of Wish Clinic & Dr Chuang.
In the previous blog post I have briefly mentioned my thoughts and impression towards Wish Clinic. Just to recap, I liked Wish Clinic for its cleanliness, privacy, and modern yet simple outlook. The space gives a very professional vibe and the clinic staffs were all warm & friendly. As I waited in the consultation room I was slightly nervous but mostly excited to meet Dr Chuang for the first time. Dr Chuang gave me the impression of professionalism with a friendly and out-going personality. He was simply the same in person as he was answering all my emails; detailed and patient to answer all my questions and most of all understood my needs. That made me feel comfortable and confident quickly since through emails I have already built up those feelings, meeting Dr Chuang in person just confirmed them.

Dr. Chuang : )

Consultation and Q&A.
Before meeting Dr Chuang in person, we already did quite a detailed online consultation and Ive already bombarded Dr Chuang with all the questions I had in mind. Since I am not new to this topic, I probably didnt have as much questions compared to those who are new to PS.

I will just share some common FAQs people tend to ask during first consultations:

1. How long is the downtime for eyelid surgery & rhinoplasty?
Downtime is usually different for different procedures and different people. Typically for rhinoplasty & eyelid surgeries, as it is a simple surgery, a few days to a week to get back to normal activities is common. People often return to work 1 week post-op because stitches would be removed after a week or so.

2. Are results permanent?
Results are usually permanent though there may be a few factors that affect permanence. E.g. for rhinoplasty, it depends on the implants used for your nose. And for eyelid surgery, usually it will be permanent until aging causes sagging then perhaps youd need another surgery to remove excess skin if you seek perfection.

3. Will it be painful?
Based on my own experiences, there were little or no pain during surgery. For eyelid surgery, local anesthetic was used. That means youd be awake during surgery and the anesthetic is only effective on the surgery site, i.e. in this case, my eyelids. Doctors need patients to be awake so that patients could assist in opening & closing of their eyes for them to check the incisions made and the height of the crease. At times when the anesthetic starts to wear out, you could possibly feel the pulling/tugging/stitching sensation though there will not be much pain but only slight discomfort. When I did my rhinoplasty, I was under general anesthetic the first time in Vietnam, and local anesthetic was given in Wish Clinic but I was put asleep through the surgery. Basically both times I was asleep and when I woke up there was no pain at all. The only difference was that the GA gave me a side effect of nauseousness and that made me throw up the whole night at the hospital, which was really uncomfortable to deal with. With LA used, there was no such problem at all. To me I didnt feel pain at all for both eyelid & nose surgeries, though there might have been times of discomfort e.g. blurry vision, dizziness right after surgery, and swelling, which all are commonly felt post-op.

4. Will the surgery leave scars?
This really depends on your doctors skills and methods used for the surgery. My first rhinoplasty surgery left zero scars at my conumella where incision was made (between both nostrils), and minimal scar for my non-incisional double eyelid procedure since it was only stitching method used and no cutting was done. But my first epicanthoplasty left scars even after 3 years, still pretty visible when no make up is applied. That was quite a failed op since there was no difference after surgery plus it left scars. *fail* My latest surgery with Dr Chuang is still under observation but Dr Chuang did assure me that the method used for my epi ("w" stitch) will leave almost no scarring, or minimal. He already cut the skin with old scars away and my new incision marks should go away in 6 months, I am having high hopes for it! : D

5. What about post treatment care?
I was briefed my post-op instructions by Wish Clinics friendly staff and also given a post-treatment care pack which consist of medications like painkillers & antibiotics, sterile cotton swabs and saline lotion to keep wounds clean, application creams and lotion for the wounds to keep infections at bay, eye drops for post eyelid surgeries, a cool/hot water bag to do cold/warm compresses, and a pack of face mask for wearing out if you prefer to keep low-profile (picture of the pack can be found in blog post part 1). I also returned to the clinic daily (since I lived 5 minutes away) for light treatment which was supposed to help rid swelling faster.

rhinoplasty nose eyelids epi epicanthoplasty zhongxiao dunhua zhongxiaodonglu
While getting light therapy done at Wish Clinic.

6. Diet post-op?
No seafood, spicy food, heaty food like nuts, alcohol, and smoking - until wounds are completely healed, just to prevent any infections and for speedy recovery. Typically for 2 weeks at least I suppose? Try to stay indoors more often when the haze is bad since dusty air isnt good for wound recovery too.

7. How long do I have to stay in Taipei for?
Stitches will be removed in 7/8 days, ideally 8 days but 7 minimum days. Oh yea, and it depends on the type of surgery youre getting done too. Heard that jaw surgeries require patients to stay for at least 2 weeks.

8. How fast can I start my workout again?
Light exercises like walking should be fine after. For other activities that involve jumping movements like jogging or workouts that involves applying pressure like weight lifting or even swimming since workout environment is wet, should be waited out for at least 1-2 months before starting on such routine again. Best is if you could wait out a little longer just to be safe, you wouldnt want to mess up your costly job right away huh?

9. How long will it take to look normal again?
For eyelid surgeries, most swelling should subside by a month but look most natural from 3-6 months. For rhinoplasty most swelling should subside from 1-3 months, but for swelling to TOTALLY subside it may take 6-12 months depending on individuals. This needs to be understood since many feel depressed while waiting for the final outcome thinking they screwed up their face but in fact its only because swelling has not subside fully. Patience!
Before my recent op...

This was a test shot taken at home for my new iPhone flash gadget, just nice it shows my nude face to show you guys my "before" face. Eyes far apart and slightly sleepy, thick nose bridge and bulbous (fatty) nose tip.

Same, pre-op.. Me with light make up.

Day 3 in Taiwan, Taipei...
The next day after my op, I felt no pain at all but vision was quite blur so I rested in my apartment almost the entire day. You could always head out to walk or shop but I preferred to rest since I quite frequent Taipei and I needed some quiet time. Moreover since I was alone for this trip, the more I didnt want to walk around since I was half blind. Lol. My Mom brought my twin little strep brothers to my apartment to keep me company instead and brought some local yummy lunch.

oyster mee sua yummy good food
Taiwan Oyster Mee Sua, super yums!! My Mom bought this from Xin Dian, near her place but its same and just as good as the popular Ah Zhong Mian Xian in Ximending. Could not consume seafood so I had the bowl with large intestines. Yummeh~
what to eat in taiwan taipei cheap local food
Fried Stinky Tofu! Yumsss!
yumy delicious good food popular
Meat Stew? Not sure what its called in English, but in Taiwan they call it "Rou Gen". All these food can be bought in small road side stalls and are commonly found in Taiwan.

Went out in the late noon to get my early dinner that day and took some snap shots of small boutique shops near where I stayed. There were a few streets with such shops and Cafes, I found them looking like mini Itaewon in Seoul. Hehe.

I practically ate salads/sandwiches most time from the convenience stores. I dont know how many times I need to repeat this, but I super love Taiwans convenience stores can?! The variety of drinks & food is amazing! And each food item also shows the amount of calories, haha.. Most importantly its convenient, cheap, & good.

Show you more of my buys from the convenience stores... This whole set prob cost me less than SGD$6?? Which lasted me a meal and two snacks. Super worth! In Singapore you prob could get only 2 items for that price.
rhinoplasty nose eyelids epi epicanthoplasty zhongxiao dunhua zhongxiaodonglu
These were great for days where I didnt feel like having heavy meals since I was lying down most of the time.

Okay, just to share a little on my post-op pics.. for the first 3 days. And in case you are wondering what I did for my procedures; basically eyelids & nose only. For eyelids, I did ptosis to correct my slight sleepy eye problem, incisional double eyelid surgery to remove some excess skin to make eyes look less droopy, and epicanthoplasty for the inner corner of my eyelids to look closer since my eyes were slightly far apart. For nose, my implant was changed to Silitex (Sillicon implant with Goretex coating), tiplasty to elongate nose tip using septum & ear cartilage, de-fattening procedure to remove some fat from my bulbous nose tip, and alarplasty to define nose shape further. All in all my surgery cost over SGD$8K (where a quarter of the cost was paid for my eyelids), Airbnb apartment over SGD$400, and air tickets cost approximately SGD$300ish. Hope that was enough info for you to set a budget aside. But do bear in mind, prices may differ as consultation outcome should differ for everyone.
