A fourth teenager has been charged with the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl, an attack that was recorded and posted on Facebook, according to prosecutors.
Dyquier Garrett, 16, is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault in the December 2012 attack at the home of another teen charged in the case, Scandale Fritz. He was ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bail in a bond hearing before Cook County Criminal Court Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil, according to court records.
Fritz, Kenneth Brown, and Justin Applewhite, all now 16, were arrested in May and indicted on sex assault charges in July and are each being held on $900,000 bail.
The assaults took place around 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 15 in Fritzs home in the 400 block of West 60th Place in the Englewood neighborhood, according to police records. The three boys charged in May assaulted the girl first, and Garrett arrived later and also assaulted her, prosecutors said.
The girl had gone to Fritzs house to talk to him, authorities said. Brown had a gun and the girl twice refused to have sex with the boys before they forced her into in the basement and sexually assaulted her, prosecutors said today. Fritz recorded the attacks, including Brown holding a gun and the boys yelling out references to the assaults and their gang, prosecutors said Friday.
After the assaults, Garrett came over to the house and watched the video with Fritz and Applewhite, after which Fritz told Garrett the girl, then 12 years old, would have sex with him also, prosecutors said. Garrett went into the basement with the girl alone and forced her to have sex, prosecutors said.
A day after the assaults, the girl told a relative about the attacks and a police report was filed and the girl was treated and examined at a hospital. On Dec. 17, the video was posted on Browns Facebook page, and then on Fritzs and Applewhites Facebook pages, prosecutors said.
Fritz admitted to investigators he made the recording, prosecutors said.
Charges against Garrett were delayed because prosecutors were awaiting the results of lab tests conducted by the Illinois State Police crime lab, prosecutors said today.
Brown, Frtiz and Applewhite, of the 200 block of West 59th Place, are due back in court on Dec. 11 before Cook County Criminal Court Judge Vincent Gaughn, according to court records.
